Doric is the traditional dialect of the North East of Scotland. It has its roots in the farming and fishing communities that made up the area. In the last 20 years it has seen a revival and is gaining more recognition and being taught at schools. We thank pupils and staff at Banff Academy, in a project with the Elphinstone Institute Aberdeen University for providing their Doric Dictionary for us to download from this website.
