Hans Norling from Masonry and Lime is leading a talk at the site on the repair and consolidation works that have been undertaken on this historic kirk.
St Brandan’s (or St Brandon’s) and Old Kirk of Boyndie dates back to the 12th Century AD and has strong links with the Abbey of Arbroath. All that now survives of the church are the west gable with bellcote and the arched burial vault, which probably date to the 1600s and 1700s.
Hans will talk you through the works undertaken to protect this Nationally significant and Scheduled Monument. He will guide you through the sensitive approach and describe why the use of lime is so essential in its care.
